14 DAY TRIAL // Valve has just pushed a new stable update to its cross-platform Steam Client software for all supported platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and GNU/Linux.
The Steam Client stable update released on May 4, 2016, appears to be a pretty big one, bringing various general improvements for all operating systems, such as a rebase of the web browser component to Chromium 49.0.2623.110, improvements for Family View's iconography, and scaling fixes when previewing images in the screenshot manager.
Games no longer fail to install with the "Content still encrypted" error message, the French layout of the controller keyboard received a period symbol that was missing from previous versions of the Steam Client, and it looks like several crashes that occurred when attempting to use the controller on-screen keyboard have been patched.
With today's update of the Steam Client, Valve engineers also improved the rendering performance with Vulkan applications, as well as the stability of the Big Picture overlay with Direct3D 10 apps for the Steam Overlay. On the other hand, the new Steam Client stable update improves the broadcasting support while using Big Picture mode.

SteamVR, Steam Controller, Linux, and Mac OS X fixes
In addition to the changes mentioned above, today's Steam Client update arrives with dozens of SteamVR fixes and improvements, new Steam Controller features, such as the ability to bind the left and right sticks as digital bindings or manually selection an action set via the new "Last Used Action Set" option, along with a couple of fixes for the GNU/Linux and Mac OS X platforms.
As usual, the update of the Steam Client is now live for all users, so to get all the goodies mentioned in this article and the fixes listed in the changelog below, you need to open your Steam for Windows, Steam for Mac or Steam for Linux client, go to the Steam menu and click on the "Check for Steam Client updates" entry. Once the update has been downloaded, restart the client.
