Japanese source says this leak is 100 percent real

The upcoming iPhone 7 is expected to bring a series of major changes, including not only the removal of the famous 3.5mm audio jack but also the addition of a Smart Connector borrowed from the iPad Pro.

The photo that got leaked a few weeks ago and allegedly showing the iPhone 7 is actually true, Japanese blog Macotakara claims (via AI), adding that it shows a case manufactured by Catcher Technology, a company contracted by Apple to produce parts for the iPhone.

If this photo is indeed real, then the iPhone 7 is very likely to come with a dual-camera configuration, as the case clearly shows that Apple is looking to implement such a feature on the upcoming model. Previous reports indicated that only the iPhone 7 Pro would come with this camera, although it’s not yet clear if the Pro model indeed exists or not.

Same size, similar look

The source explains that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will have the exact same size as the current models, so they’ll feature a 4.7- and 5.5-inch screen, respectively. Other leaks indicated that the upcoming generation would also be very similar in design to the existing iPhone lineup, with the only changes being made to the antenna lines - now moved to the top and bottom of the back - and to the camera, which could be moved slightly closer to the edge.

What’s also interesting is that the leaked case showed a Smart Connector very similar to the one used by the iPad Pro to connect to a detachable keyboard. This could be a sign that Apple’s planning to make the iPhone compatible with the keyboard (or other accessories) too, although that might not make much sense with such a small screen.

Another new feature is the addition of sensors at the top of the device, most likely to measure ambient light and adjust screen colors and brightness, but also a Lightning port instead of the audio connector.
