ownCloud announced the availability of new updated versions of their ownCloud clients for Android and iOS mobile operating systems, adding a bunch of long-awaited features and the usual performance improvements.

ownCloud Android 2.4.0 and ownCloud iOS 3.6.0 apps are out now and come with support for adding multiple public links per file, revamped share view to make it more similar to the web-based user interface, and the ability to share files with your custom groups as you do with any other user or group in an ownCloud server.

The Android version received support for automatically retry failed, interrupted (by lack of connectivity) file transfers, and it looks like both the iOS and Android ownCloud clients now offer a feature that would appear to have been requested by users for a long time now, namely video streaming.

"From now on, both iOS and Android apps will play MP4 video files on your server just with one tap. There is no more need to wait for downloading your full videos to start watching them. If you really need them down, find the "download" action in the contextual menu of the file," reads the announcement.

Enjoy all the power of ownCloud X Enterprise on your mobile devices

The ownCloud Android 2.4.0 and ownCloud iOS 3.6.0 also make it possible for users to enjoy all the power of the recently unveiled ownCloud X Enterprise product on their mobile devices, and you can download them as we speak on your supported phones or tablets from the respective app stores.

While ownCloud Android 2.4.0 is available for download from Google Play Store for Android 6 and Android 7 devices, along with the workaround app for Jelly Bean-powered devices, iOS users can download ownCloud iOS 3.6.0 from Apple App Store. The source tarballs are also available for download here and here.
