Band 2 is likely to launch in the next couple of months

Microsoft's own Band smart wristband has just reached another low in terms of pricing, as the device can be purchased in the United Kingdom for only £145.00, down from the original price of £169.99.

The Band can be found at this price at Amazon UK and is sold directly by Microsoft, but similar discounts are expected to be offered in Microsoft Stores, too.

In case you're wondering why so many discounts for the Band lately, the reason is as simple as it could be: Redmond's getting ready for the second generation which, according to some sources, should debut in the next couple of months, and because the launch is just around the corner, the company is doing its best to clear up inventories.

It's believed that there still are plenty of unsold Bands in stock, so Microsoft must get rid of them before the launch of the new model and offering big discounts is the best option.

The second-generation Microsoft Band

Redmond has already confirmed earlier this year that the second-generation Band is coming, but there are no specs available for the time being, despite the fact that we might be just approximately one month away from the big launch of the device.

Previous reports on this indicated that Microsoft was testing the Band 2 in Europe, which could be a sign that the company is aiming at an international launch from the very beginning, in contrast with the first model which was only available in the United States at first.

This should help the company achieve better sales from the very beginning, but it remains to be seen if the spec sheet is indeed good enough to help the Band 2 sell better than its predecessor.

The device is expected to debut in a press conference next month in New York, together with new Lumia devices and the fourth-generation Surface Pro.
