The Manjaro development team has announced today, April 7, 2016, the general availability of the fifteenth update pack for the Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella) operating system.

Including the latest security patches from the upstream Arch Linux software repositories, the new update pack for Manjaro Linux 15.12, the current stable branch of the Arch Linux-based OS for workstations, received initial support for the upcoming Linux 4.6 kernel, as well as updates for some of the most important software components.

Among these, we can mention the long-lived Nvidia 361.42 graphics driver for those who are running Manjaro Linux on Nvidia GPUs, new Linux kernel maintenance release (see below for supported kernels), as well as updates to the JDK (Java Development Kit) 7, Haskell, NetworkManager, Wine, LibreOffice, MHWD, and some OpenRC packages.

"We are happy to announce our fifteenth update of Manjaro 15.12 (Capella)," reads today's announcement. "It is always good to check for updated packages, even we don’t notify you about them. As usual people using our testing branch will help us to get snaps over to our branch almost smoothly."

Linux kernel 4.5 is supported in Manjaro

Besides adding experimental support for the Release Candidate (RC) versions of the upcoming Linux 4.6 kernel, Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella) now supports the Linux 3.10.101 LTS, Linux 3.12.57 LTS, Linux 3.13.11.37, Linux 3.14.65 LTS, Linux 3.16.7.26, Linux 3.18.29 LTS, Linux 3.19.8.17, Linux 4.1.20 LTS, Linux 4.2.8.6, and Linux 4.4.6 LTS kernels.

Support for the recently released Linux 4.5 kernel arrived in Manjaro Linux 15.12 last week, and it looks like the distribution also supports Linux kernel 4.3.6, which reached end of life approximately one and a half months ago. As usual, all users of the Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella) operating system are urged to update their installations as soon as possible.
