Plone advocate and LibreOffice developer Andreas Mantke reports on the upcoming availability of a brand new LibreOffice extensions and templates website, and the migration of the content from the current website to the new one.

According to Mr. Mantke, work on the new LibreOffice Extensions and Templates website is currently ongoing, and the good news is that the forthcoming site will contain both extensions and templates for the open-source and cross-platform LibreOffice office suite, which users will be able to download and install much more easily than before.

"I worked with a Plone service provider on the setup of a new LibreOffice extensions and templates website and the migration of the content from the current site to the new site. We are currently short before we will move over to the new website," wrote Andreas Mantke in his latest blog post.

LibreOffice 5.3 Beta is out now, final release ships January 2017

As the migration process to the new LibreOffice Extensions and Templates website won't require Plone sites, only one account will be needed for extension and template contributors to log in and add their work. If you have an existing account on the old website, that will be migrated too, so there's no need to create a new account.

Don't hesitate to check out the gallery below if you want to see what the new LibreOffice Extensions and Templates website looks like, and in the meantime, you can get an early taste of the upcoming LibreOffice 5.3 office suite by downloading the Beta version for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems from our website.

The final release of LibreOffice 5.3 is planned for the end of January 2017, but until then, there will be another Beta build and three RC (Release Candidate) versions, which will try to fix as many bugs as possible before the new office suite hits the streets. A second LibreOffice 5.3 bug hunting session took place last week.
