A new set of photos, this time coming from China, claim to show the upcoming iPhone 7, which, according to Apple’s typical release schedule, should see daylight sometime in September.

And while some of these new photos indeed come in line with previous leaks and point to features that are expected to debut on the iPhone 7, others suggest changes that have only rarely been discussed.

First off, it’s the new dual-camera system. As AI notes, the leak shows that the iPhone 7 could come with dual cameras, but as compared to the existing models, Apple could go for a new design, and instead of the typical ring surrounding the camera, it could adopt a small bump made from the same material as the case.

The Smart Connector also shows up in these photos, sort of confirming that Apple might be working on an iPhone Pro version that would be more like the iPad Pro sibling in the iPhone lineup. Rumors about an iPhone Pro have been swirling around for a while, with leaks and sources saying that it could either replace the Plus or come as a new model offering additional capabilities, including the dual cameras too.

But at the same time, the new camera configuration could very well be offered on every iPhone model, so nothing is actually certain at this point.

No home button? Very unlikely

What’s also interesting is that the leaks showing the screen of the purported iPhone 7 also reveal that Apple might be giving up on the home button and the 3.5mm audio jack. While the latter is indeed very likely to be abandoned on the next iPhone, not the same thing can be said about the home button, as Apple has put a lot of effort into improving it with the latest-generations iPhones.

More likely, Apple will continue focusing on the home button to make it faster and will also improve fingerprint scanning in order to work even when fingers are wet or dirty, as is currently the case with sensors installed on flagship Android devices, such as the Nexus 6P.

Without a doubt, however, these leaks should not be taken for granted as it’s still too early to discuss the design of the iPhone 7, and everything could change overnight.
