14 DAY TRIAL // Apple isn’t going to announce the new iPhone Edition or iPhone 8 anytime soon, but there are plenty of clues as to what the smartphone might look like. Designer Vianney le Masne put those clues together and created a concept of the upcoming phone.
Apple’s anniversary iPhone Edition is said to feature an OLED display, a major move from the company that equipped its previous phones with LCD screens. It’s worth mentioning that the other two phones expected this year, the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, will come with LCD displays.
Designer Vianney le Masne created a concept showing the iPhone Edition with the rumored Dark Mode, OLED display and bezel-less design, 9to5Mac reports.
The designer has explained that Dark Mode doesn’t just mean inverting white and black pixels. He notes that the mode would smooth the contrast between the edge of the display and the bezel, which would create a borderless design. Manse added that developers should start from a dark slate when creating designs for Dark Mode, so that the edges of the interface would blend with the edges of the OLED display.
Fluent and smooth Dark Mode on OLED display
The concept images and video show the function area at the bottom of the phone with additional features, including a new fingerprint scanning technology. Dark Mode certainly makes the iPhone Edition even more attractive, as it fluently blends in with the smaller top and bottom bezels. The mode gives the impression that there’s no bezel at all and the interface slightly fades away at the edges of the iPhone.
Aside from this, premium materials like glass, aluminum and ceramic will make the upcoming phone even more stylish, but they could also drive its price upwards of $1,000. iPhone Edition is also expected to feature wireless charging and it might be announced towards the end of this year.
