New day, new leak, this time with few new changes

A new leak allegedly showing a silver dummy unit of the upcoming iPhone 7 has reached the web today, revealing some of the changes that might be part of the next model when it sees daylight in September.

While nothing should be taken for granted at this moment, the dummy indicates that the iPhone 7 is very likely to be similar in design with the iPhone 6s. This isn’t something we’re hearing for the first time and given the fact that all the leaks are pointing in the same direction, there’s no doubt that in the end, we’ll end up with a new iPhone looking like the old iPhone.

But Apple is anyway planning some changes, including the removal of the antenna lines from the back of the phones. As this new leak shows, these lines have been moved to the top and bottom edges of the phone, offering a clear back that only bears the iPhone branding, the signature Apple logo, the flash, camera, and microphone.

Smart Connector on the back

And speaking of the camera, it appears that Apple’s willing to go for a flush camera for the iPhone, so the company could finally give up on the metal ring that’s currently used on the iPhone 6s. On the other hand, there’s no sign of a dual-camera configuration and if Apple is indeed planning to offer such a feature, it might only be available on the bigger Plus (or even Pro if it sees daylight) model.

We’ve saved the best for last. This leak shows that the iPhone 7 could actually come with a Smart Connector similar to the one available on the iPad Pro. While this feature was previously believed to arrive only on the bigger iPhone, and possibly on the iPhone Pro, it might seem like Apple could go for a different strategy when the new model launches and make it available on more versions.

The Smart Connector allows the connectivity with various external devices and accessories, such as keyboards and batteries, so Apple might be trying to actually give the iPhone a productivity boost.

We’re being told by people with knowledge of the matter that the Smart Connector won’t be available on the standard model, so if there are plans to bring it on the iPhone 7, the Plus version could be the only one to get it. Additionally, we’ve heard that leaks showing a design that’s different from the iPhone 6s are fake and the one that’s the closest to reality is the one we told you about yesterday.
