A new Doom game is on its way and it promises to be everything that the community has dreamed of, and that could include the single-player campaign which could take more than 13 hours to complete.

Bethesda seems to be trying something different with Doom. The publisher took everyone by surprise by announcing the launch of the game on May 13, 2016. The game was revealed only a few months ago. Usually, this means that the game was far from an actual release date, but it turns out that the developers are pretty much ready.

This is a radically different campaign from the one employed for Rage, the previous major game developed by id Software. We knew about Rage for a long time and expectations of the community were very high. It was one of the factors that contributed to the general disappointment in the game.

Bethesda doesn't want to make the same mistake twice, and the information about Doom have been kept to a minimum, with the exception of a few gameplay trailers that don't show too much, with the exception of the engine and mechanics.

Single player and multiplayer for Doom

It's clear that Doom will be a great multiplayer experience, but id Software knows that the game also needs a solid single-player experience. People have started asking around about the length of the single-player campaign, and the Doom developers answered on Twitter.

From the looks of it, Doom will require at least 13 hours to complete, but that might vary depending on the difficulty chosen. This is definitely good news, since most shooters released in the past few years don't usually go past 7 or 8 hours, and they mostly focus on the multiplayer.

The new Doom game is developed by id Software and publisher by Bethesda. It's scheduled to be released on May 13, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
