The developers of the gorgeous Apricity OS GNU/Linux distribution were happy to inform Softpedia a few minutes ago about the immediate availability for download of a new Beta release for the month of October 2015.

We introduced you to the Apricity OS distro last month, and it appears that many of you out there love the new concept it brings, especially because it is based on the lightweight, rolling-release Arch Linux operating system, but features modern elements designed with the new Linux user in mind. The new Beta build of Apricity OS comes with great new features, making the distribution even more powerful and useful.

According to the developers, Apricity OS 10.2015 Beta is one of the first to bring you the recently released GNOME 3.18 desktop environment with all of its awesome new technologies and apps. Moreover, there's now better support for Nvidia graphics cards, better printing and Bluetooth support, and better support for running the distro on the VirtualBox virtualization software.

"This release makes Apricity OS one of the very first Linux distributions to ship with Gnome 3.18 (second, I think). This version of Apricity OS also brings improved printer support, better Nvidia graphics compatibility, more robust bluetooth functionality, improved VirtualBox integration, and the first steps towards enabling the creation of versions of Apricity OS with other desktop environments and different firstrun.sh scripts," said the Apricity OS developers in an email to Softpedia.

New desktop environments are coming

The Apricity OS developers also informed us that they were preparing to add support for other open-source desktop environments in the distribution, as well as to implement different firstrun.sh scripts. So maybe you can help the devs figure out which desktop environment you would like to see in future builds of the Apricity OS GNU/Linux distributions.

We know that you are all eagerly waiting for the final release of the Apricity OS distribution to come out, but it looks like the developers need a little more time before they drop a stable and reliable version of the Arch Linux derivative for modern Linux users. Until the final build is out, you can download the Apricity OS 10.2015 Beta right now from Softpedia, but please keep in mind that the system is still in development and it's not ready for production use.
