That goes for everything including the side window

“Black Widow” is a term that has been used to name many things, from a nasty spider race whose females kill their mates after copulation, to fictional red-headed spies. Now, a computer case bearing that name has been launched.

In truth, this is not such an unusual thing. Black Widow has been used so often for high-end IT products that it borders on overuse by this point.

Still, there's something to say about the term, it still has its allure even after all this time.

AeroCool may have decided not to use it for its latest product, but the name of the new addition to the DeadSilence family of quiet PC cases might be a stealth pun.

AeroCool intros the DS200 Black Window version

The new case is a mid-tower that might come across as a full tower in pictures or from a distance. Nonetheless, it measures 210 x 485 x 527 mm / 8.26 x 19.09 x 20.75 inches.

That gives it room for two 5.25-inch drive bays, which are enough for one DVD or Blu-Ray drive and maybe a fan controller besides.

If you want a water cooling system without buying some big and fancy gaming case, it should be possible to install the tank/reservoir/pump in there as well, but you'll have to sacrifice both bays for that.

For internal storage, there are seven bays, five for 3.5-inch drives and the other two for 2.5-inch units. The drive cages are detachable.

This allows for graphics cards of up to 410 mm / 16.14 inches in length to be installed. Speaking of which, CPU coolers can be as tall as 170 mm / 6.7 inches.

The case also ships with a 120 mm rear fan and a 140 mm fan on the front, but there is room for a second one there, and you can place a 200 mm or two 140 mm / 120 mm fans on the top.

Finally, the I/O panel is split in two and set on the top of the case, bordering the (oddly enough) thermostat on both sides. The one on the right-hand side provides four USB ports (two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0), while the one on the left holds the audio jacks, power LED and power button.

Availability

AeroCool should have the DeadSilence DS200 Black Window Edition (it's a tinted acrylic window by the way) fashioned out of a SECC steel frame and ABS panels up for sale soon, but the price was unspecified. Given everything above, and the synthetic leatherette coating, it won't be the cheapest. The no-window version is found at around $110 / €100.
