14 DAY TRIAL // Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition has finally arrived on Steam, offering to an entire generation of new players a taste of what true RPG means.
Neverwinter Nights is one of those games that shaped the history of gaming and of the people that grew up with it. It’s more than just a game; it’s a standard that we can use to this day to judge new titles. And it holds up despite the fact that it’s more than 15 years old.
The gaming industry is now at a point where it revives some of the old titles, usually to make a quick buck. It a sound business decision, but it’s also an excellent opportunity to relive our childhood, but this time with support for glorious resolutions.
It’s not just a simple name change
The new Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition was brought to life by a company named Beamdog that specializes in reviving old games. They have a number of cool ones in their repertoire, including Icewind Dale, MDK2, Baldur's Gate, and Planescape: Torment.
So, what can we expect from the new version of Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition? Firstly, all elements of the UI has support for both 1080p and 4K resolutions. Secondly, a few graphical options have been introduced, including full-screen post-processing, contrast, vibrance, and depth of field.
Thirdly, and probably the most important aspect is that it works with save games, modules, and mods that are from the old Neverwinter Nights.
Lastly, Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition comes with support for Steam Workshop and a completely rebuilt multiplayer system that makes it easy to find persistent online worlds.
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is now available through Steam and Beamdog’s own platform, and it includes all the DLCs that were initially released, including Wyvern Crown of Cormyr, Infinite Dungeons, Pirates of the Sword Coast, and Heroes of Neverwinter.
