The new Need for Speed is not yet launched, but the development team at Ghost Games and publisher Electronic Arts are already thinking about the downloadable content that might be offered for the racing title and the kind of new experiences that it might deliver to fans.

Marcus Nilsson, the executive producer of the title, tells VideoGamer that the aim this year is to keep gamers playing for a longer period than for previous installments, which means that DLC needs to introduce more than just cars.

He states, "Obviously we don't go into today but we have pretty significant plans of what we think will work and I think the story that you see in this game can effectively help to keep you in there, as well as many other ways that we can refresh and renew content for you throughout."

For titles like Rivals in 2013, Hot Pursuit or Most Wanted, the development teams and publisher Electronic Arts focused mainly on extra cars, but they also offered more events and extra tracks to race on.

Some fans will be disappointed to hear that the development team is already exploring DLC options when they still have plenty of time to work on the core mechanics of the racing title.

The new Need for Speed aims to deliver a full reboot

Ghost Games is getting the most interesting elements that were introduced during the history of the franchise and wants to mix them in a title that benefits from the impressive power of the new Frostbite 3 engine.

The racing title will also require gamers to be connected to the Internet at all times to deliver mechanics that can respond to their choices.

A new Photo mode is also included, able to take snapshots at certain intervals and then share them on an internal network, with Likes then used as currency by players.

Ghost Games has not yet offered information on the cars that will be part of the game, but it has said that it is taking the utmost care to make sure that it simulates them as completely as possible.

Need for Speed will be out on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 on November 3 of this year.
