Electronic Arts and its Ghost Games studio emphasize that the upcoming Need for Speed title, which acts as a reboot of sorts for the racing series, delivers authentic customization, using not only knowledge from the real-life racing scene but also actual aftermarket parts to add to the realism factor.

The Need for Speed saga has been around for tens of years, and after achieving a huge boom in popularity with the Underground titles, fan interest in the series has dwindled, especially since recent entries have failed to resonate with the racing community.

After taking an extra year of development time, Ghost Games is set to deliver the simply titled Need for Speed later this fall, which brings back the emphasis on car customization and nighttime racing, while embracing different play styles.

Expect deep and realistic customization in Need for Speed

While talking with GamingBolt, Ghost Games Producer Lianne Lim emphasizes just how important the customization system is for the new game. While the studio's previous title, Need for Speed Rivals, also had a few customization elements, with the upcoming experience, the mechanic is much deeper and way more realistic thanks to better research.

"Rivals had personalization so it was sort of touching on it but it didn’t go fully into what we have now. We’re really excited; this is the best part of the game in my opinion. We’re working with Speed Hunters to make sure it’s authentic and it’s all about real car culture and using real aftermarket parts and companies so yeah it’s going to be amazing," the developer explains.

Need for Speed has already showcased the deep customization system as part of a special community contest, not to mention its fresh mechanics during this month's Gamescom 2015 event.

The new game is set to debut on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 3, in North America, and November 5, in Europe. You can bet that more details will appear in the following weeks and months.
