The S10 will be able to charge other phones

As Samsung’s anniversary model, the Galaxy S10 will come with lots of features, some more useful than the others.

One of the additions that fall into the second category is reverse wireless charging, which enables the Galaxy S10 to wirelessly charge other devices.

While at first glance this would truly be a great feature to have, it’s basically the kind of thing that almost nobody would use, not only because losing battery power from your phone isn’t really convenient, but also due to the fact that the tech is still in its early days and working awfully.

First and foremost, how come reverse wireless charging, you may ask. A recent photo published by Techtastic shows what they claim to be a controller providing access to Samsung Galaxy S10 preview videos at a recent company event.

Basically, visitors were allowed to press one of the five buttons to watch a bunch of demos, each of which described features to be offered on the Galaxy S10.

Enter reverse wireless charging

The last of them presented the reverse wireless charging system, which as Samsung itself explained, could be called Powershare and allow the S10 to double as a wireless charger for other devices.

Details aren’t available right now, but Samsung wouldn’t be the first one to come up with such an idea. Huawei already does it on the Mate 20 Pro and if Samsung’s implementation is similar, I have no doubt I would almost never use it.

This is because the charging system is terribly slow, so you barely recharge the other device, all while having to keep the two connected to each other during the whole time. This means you’re actually going to lose battery from the phone and, at the same time, you won’t be able to use the S10 during this whole time.

Hopefully, Samsung would improve this system to make it more useful because otherwise, it becomes just one of those features that are cool to have, but which you forget they exist a minute after buying the phone.
