A new update has been announced for the nOS Ubuntu-based Linux operating system that uses the KDE4 desktop environment. nOS is a rolling-release distribution, but new ISO images are being released by the nOS development team at the beginning of each month for those who want to install the operating system on new computers.

The nOS Infinity update for April 2015 marks one year from the release of the first version of the nOS Infinity operating system. It is a major maintenance release that brings performance and stability improvements, fixes some of the most annoying bugs that were present in previous versions of the distribution, and updates software packages to their latest version.

“This release marks a year since the first version of nOS Infinity was released. Since then many major improvements and new features have been added. Users of the first version of nOS Infinity have continued to be kept up to date and are now running the latest cambridge release,” was stated in today’s announcement.

The new features and bug fixes of nOS Infinity April 2015

New features of nOS Infinity April 2015 include a more reliable, out-of-the-box setup wizard and enhanced launchers for both the install screen and the out-of-the-box setup wizard. As mentioned, many other internal components have been updated, and the overall stability and performance of the operating system have been increased.

Among the bugs that have been fixed in nOS Infinity April 2015, we can mention a black screen issue that occurred after installation, a “restart your computer” prompt that appeared prematurely during setup, as well as a first boot issue because of components from the Live DVD installation that could not be removed. Several other small bugs have been fixed as well.

Download nOS Infinity April 2015 right now from Softpedia, where it is distributed as Live DVD ISO images for 64 and 32-bit (PAE and non-PAE) systems. If you’re running nOS Infinity on your computer, there’s no need to download the new ISO images, just make sure that you have all the latest updates via either Automatic Updates or Update Manager.
