n-Tier, a provider of information management software, has announced a new iPad app called AccessPoint. It’s said to enable people to access all of their business or personal files directly on their iPad, wherever they are.

Not that Dropbox doesn’t do all that (and more), but I guess we can hear n-Tier out, since they’re offering a free app and a seemingly simple and useful service.

According to their announcement, AccessPoint for iPad lets you enjoy the flexibility of having your files available anytime, anywhere, even when you don’t have a network connection.

Don’t be fooled though. You’ll have to save them locally first, in order to have them at hand when the Internet is gone. In other words, you may have to anticipate the lack of a wireless connection.

But hey, that’s what Dropbox does too - it creates a folder on your system and it lets you have everything at hand when you want it. With AccessPoint, however, you don’t need a special Favorites folder to do it.

You can save the files in different directories and the interface is specifically designed for easy access to any file.

Commenting on their new release, Peter Gargone, n-Tier's founder and CEO, said: "With the successful release of AccessPoint for iPad we have achieved a significant expansion in the capabilities of our AccessPoint offering.  And, we have furthered our goal of providing clients with the ability to easily access all of their different content from any platform and any location."

"AccessPoint for iPad provides our customers with seamless access to all of their content directly on their iPad and provides them with an easy to use interface for organizing, classifying, and accessing that content," Gargone added. "The app leverages our AccessPoint Portal secure cloud environment, can be used to store and access any type of files, and requires zero investment in technology or infrastructure from clients."
