mywaves, a new mobile video company that sends Internet videos to consumers' cell phones, has unveiled its 10,000 channel mobile video service. mywaves delivers a wide range of on-demand content directly to the mobile phone, including content from sources ranging from CNN to Comedy Central, as well as personal videos.

The mywaves service is comprised of a website and a software application that can be downloaded onto a mobile phone. The website allows users to discover and choose the content to be automatically delivered and updated to their mobile phones. mywaves also sends text messages alerting users of content updates in their channels, letting them know when there's something new to watch.

"Mobile video offerings today simply mirror the traditional TV broadcasting models, burdening consumers with inflexible scheduled programming, premium channels, fees and limited choice. We envision providing Web-style freedom as well as Web style entertainment on the mobile phone - letting consumers discover and choose from thousands of video channels, whether it's professional programming, user-generated content or personal videos," said Rajeev Raman, CEO and founder of mywaves.

Since the launch of the beta version in October this year, more than 20,000 users per week in 85 countries have joined the service. Using new patent-pending Web-based video syndication technology, mywaves has increased the number of available channels from 500 (in the beta version) to thousands of channels.

The mywaves service is available for free and works on all 3G networks and most video-enabled handsets.
