Mythbuntu will participate in the Xenial Xerus release

Remember Mythbuntu? Yeah, it has been a while since we shared something here about the MythTV-based official Ubuntu Linux flavor, as they decided a long time ago not to participate in regular releases of Ubuntu.

Because Canonical is preparing for the next LTS (Long-Term Support) release of the Ubuntu Linux operating system, the Mythbuntu team is now awake, asking users to help them find out if the default MythTV is useful to them or not.

You'll have to take a survey, where you will be asked if you use the Mythbuntu theme or not, and if not, what theme you do use. If you like the default theme, you'll need to share your thoughts on the main menu and Videos screen.

"The Mythbuntu team would like some feedback on our current MythTV theme. We would appreciate it if you filled out this survey (no personal data is collected) whether you use the theme or not," developers explain.

Mythbuntu 16.04 LTS coming in April 2016

That's right! Mythbuntu 16.04 LTS is coming in April 2016 as part of the Xenial Xerus release, but, unfortunately, we have no recent news on the features that will be implemented in the upcoming operating system, as its developers haven't shared anything for the last two years.

Of course, it will borrow all the modern GNU/Linux technologies that will be used in all other official Ubuntu flavors, such as Linux kernel 4.4 LTS and systemd, and we should also get the latest and most advanced MythTV media center, but that's all we know for now.

One question remains, though: how many of you out there use Mythbuntu? We're very curious to know if there's someone out there reading this story who uses the current version of the Mythbuntu Linux operating system, and for what purpose.
