14 DAY TRIAL // Amidst a plethora of rumors regarding upcoming tech devices, one thing is certain: Microsoft is prepping multiple high-end products which will see the light of day soon enough. The most talked about are the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, but the thing is, the Redmond giant might have more up its sleeve.
Today, we get another leak only meant to confuse the waters even more. As reported by NPU, a Lumia prototype has been spotted with a 1080p display and a Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood in China. So what could we have here?
While the mystery device looks pretty reminiscent of the Lumia 730 in the design department, it does house a big camera unit on the back.
Could this be the Lumia 850? A very unlikely scenario, since the phone leaked not so long ago with a 5-inch HD (720p) display with Corning Gorilla Glass and Snapdragon 410 processor. How about the once-rumored Lumia 840? It doesn’t seem to be the case either, since the prototype has a Snapdragon 810 under the hood.

The Lumia 950 doesn’t fit into the description either, as it should come with a Quad HD display (2560 x 1440 pixel resolution) and a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor (like the LG G4) under the hood.
What about the Lumia 950 XL, then? No, it can’t be this model, because the phone is supposed to don a QHD display and a Snapdragon 810 chip, but the current mystery prototype only offers 1080p resolution.
So, as you can see, the mystery deepens and it might be a while before we actually find out any real information about the device depicted in these images. In all possibility, we might be looking at a prototype that got canceled by Microsoft at some point.
After all, the mid-range Lumia 550, Lumia 650, Lumia 750 and Lumia 850 handsets, which recently surfaced online, were said to have been axed by the Redmond giant. Even so, the Lumia 850 made a comeback into the news, as it was revealed the phone would actually become a real life product headed for a 2016 release.
