14 DAY TRIAL // Ever since that elevator fight between Jay Z and Solange, where Beyonce adopted the “statue pose,” the press has been trying to pair the rapper with all the female singers he's collaborated with over the years or with the ones that he's been connected to in any way. Among them, singer Mya has also been suspected.
The artist has decided to address those rumors, and she has spoken out on Instagram after some fan accused her of having an affair with Jay Z when he was married to Beyonce. Being directly asked by the fan, “Heard you and Jay Z had an 11-year affair. Are you his chick or nah?” she has nipped that story in the bud by firing back, “Never did, never was, never will.”
The story is also backed up by a recent blind item which claimed that Jay Z was not only having a long affair with Mya but he was also supporting the singer financially.
She has added dryly and with a touch of reproach that “illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts and that's the ‘media’ for you – especially today. I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage way too much for nonsense.”
Mya goes on to vent her frustration with the ridiculous story. “False rumors are crafted for ratings & numbers. And miserable, unhappy people need someone to judge to deter the attention away from their own misery and feel better about their miserable lives. If they did it to Jesus, they'll do it to anyone. God bless,” she concludes.
The press is desperate to find the mystery woman in Jay Z's life, after last week Beyonce sent the rumor mill into overdrive with an eyebrow-raising show on their joint On The Run Tour. The big deal was that she changed the lyrics to the song “Resentment” while singing it live. The song is about a woman who has been cheated on.
The original lyric was supposed to go “been riding with you for six years,” but Beyonce didn't sing that version. Instead, she opted for “been riding with you for 12 years,” and people took this to mean that she was referring to an adultery in her marriage, since she's been in a relationship with Jay Z for exactly that amount of time.
Apart from Mya, Jaz Z has also been connected with other singers in the business, such as Rita Ora or Rihanna, as well as reality star Casey Cohen.
