The eighteen-year-old teenager who opened fire inside a McDonald's restaurant at the Olympia Mall in Munich, Germany, used a hacked Facebook account to lure victims to the restaurant.

On Saturday, a day after the shooting, German authorities confirmed that the shooter, Ali David Sonboly, hacked into the Facebook account of a teenage girl named Selina Akim.

Sonboly posted a message on her Facebook wall that read, "I’ll give you something if you want, but not too expensive." Users were invited to the McDonald's restaurant at 16:00 PM.

The incident resulted in the death of nine persons and the injury of 27 other. The shooter later killed himself.

Facebook took down the hacked account, most likely to prevent public lashout against the victim. A Facebook representative has also told multiple media sources that the company has started working with the German police regarding the hack and has provided all the requested evidence.

During the first hours of the assault, it was believed that Sonboly was another ISIS militant. German investigators later revealed he was only a disturbed boy with a fascination for mass shootings.

Authorities discovered many books on this topic at his home. His Internet searches also showed an interest in mass shootings. Sonboly also used the image of Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik as his WhatsApp avatar.
