The browser is only available in New Zealand for the moment

The first public preview version of a Firefox browser for iOS platform has just been released in the App Store, Mozilla announced today.

This is the good news. Unfortunately, since this is a preview release, it's only available to a limited number of users. According to Mozilla, the preview version of Firefox for iOS is now available for download in New Zealand.

The limited availability of the browser makes perfect sense for a preview version. Mozilla states that it plans to create an application that would offer an almost perfect browsing experience for iOS with Firefox.

That's where the public preview comes in handy because Mozilla will be collecting feedback received from users in one country (New Zealand), before they extend the browser's availability to get feedback in a few more countries prior to a full public launch.

The preview is meant to collect feedback from iOS users

Obviously, the feedback received will help Mozilla add new features and improvements to its Firefox browser for iOS.

Mozilla offers a few details regarding the iOS browser's features, and info on how users can offer their feedback after installing the application from App Store.

First of all, the preview release of Firefox of iOS uses Intelligent Search, which should offer suggested search results and the choice of search providers.

Also, with Firefox Accounts, users will be able to carry their Firefox browser history, passwords and tabs from their desktop to their iOS devices.

The first preview release of Firefox for iOS includes Visual Tabs feature as well, an easy and intuitive way to keep track of all open tabs.

In order to provide your feedback to help Mozilla improve Firefox for iOS, you can use the application directly. Simply tap the numeric tab icon on the top right of the browser, tap the “Settings” menu on top left and head over to “Support” to send feedback.
