Just a few minutes ago, January 26, 2016, Mozilla pushed the final Firefox 44.0 web browser to the FTP channels of the project, for anyone to download and install on their personal computers.

The release schedule of the Mozilla Firefox 44.0 web browser suggested January 26, as the official date for its release, and we believe Mozilla stays true to its roots and always unveils a new version of one of the most popular open source software in the world when they say they will.

Therefore, Mozilla is planning on making an official announcement for Mozilla Firefox 44.0 later today, January 26, but we're always monitoring its FTP activity, and the final packages are now available for download for all supported operating systems, including Linux (64-bit and 32-bit, sources too), Mac, and Windows (64-bit and 32-bit).

Here's what's new in Mozilla Firefox 44.0

Again, there's no official announcement yet for Mozilla Firefox 44.0, but looking at the changes implemented in the last Beta build, we can notice that it brings features like support for enabling WebM/VP9 video decoding support on systems that do not support MP4/H.264 streaming, and enables H.264 support on systems that support it.

For Linux users, Mozilla Firefox 44.0 adds support for Unicode-range descriptor for webfonts by implementing the same font matching that was used on Windows and Mac OS X platforms for some time now. For Windows users, the new version no longer disables the screensaver when watching online videos on Windows XP and Vista OSes.

Additionally, an SHA-256 signing certificate is now used for Windows builds of Mozilla Firefox 44.0, thus meeting the new signing requirements. Among other changes, we can notice that support for the RC4 decipher has been removed, along with the UTN - DATACorp SGC or the Equifax Secure Certificate Authority 1024-bit root certificate.

Last but not least, Mozilla Firefox 44.0 improves the warning pages for untrusted connections and certificate errors, and implements numerous new features for web developers. Download Mozilla Firefox 44.0 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now!
