14 DAY TRIAL // Great news for Motorola fans, as the US-based company is very close to releasing the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Moto Z Play.
Motorola recently began a soak test for the Moto Z Play's Nougat update. According to AndroidPolice, the global rollout of the update should start on March 13, but only if nothing wrong happens during testing.
If you happen to be the lucky owner of a Moto Z Play, then you should know that the update will not take your phone's software to version Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Also, it appears that Motorola did not have the time to include the latest security patch coming from Google.
Besides that, the Android 7.0 Nougat for the Moto Z Play comes with November 2016 security patch included. On the bright side, a newer maintenance update could very well be released later on.
One more thing that must be clarified before going through the changes included in the update is related to Daydream. It appears that the update will not add Daydream support, probably due to the low-power processor inside the smartphone (Qualcomm Snapdragon 625).
The most important new features and improvements included in the update have already been confirmed by Motorola, and include quick switch between apps, multi-window view, and Work mode.
When it comes to performance, Motorola has added a new data saver that allows users to reduce cellular data usage. Whenever it's enabled, the data saver will not allow apps running in the background to access cellular data.
An improved version of the Doze mode will also be added. A new just-in-time compiler has been implemented, which improves runtime device performance and helps reduce the amount of storage space required for apps.
Numerous tweaks to Notifications have also been implemented, so Moto Z Play users will now be able to reply to messages directly from the notifications. Moreover, in Android 7.0 Nougat, multiple notifications from the same app are grouped together into a single notification bundle.
