Motorola’s Moto Z smartphones and modular accessories have been quite popular on the market, as they make it easy for users to attach all sorts of Moto Mods and enhance the phones’ capabilities. It’s no secret that the company is working on new accessories, one of which was recently teased.

Motorola Malaysia took to its official Facebook page to post an image that teases the RAZR as a Moto Mod. The picture states that “an icon returns as a Moto Mod.” In the description, the company says it wishes to bring “back the iconic Moto that changed the 2000s.”

The company added that “this time it’s new and improved, as a Moto Mod.” The RAZR was released at the start of 2004 and it quickly became one of the most popular devices on the market. The RAZR was very popular in the US, being the bestselling smartphone in the country until November 2008, according to a report.

The new RAZR Moto Mod could be released soon

Motorola managed to sell 150 million Moto RAZR units all over the world and released a second generation in 2007. A few years later, Motorola attempted to bring back the RAZR in a different shape and released the DROID RAZR series in 2011 and 2012.

Other details about the upcoming modular accessory are known, but the release will surely grab everyone’s attention and even convince some consumers to switch to Moto Z modular smartphones. Aside from a RAZR Moto Mod, Motorola has also been working on a Mod that would integrate Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa. When the Mod would be connected to Moto Z smartphones, users would be able to speak out commands to Alexa and get suggested actions for various tasks.

Moreover, an Indiegogo project aims at creating a Moto Mod that would allow for wireless charging and even an IR blaster on Moto Z smartphones. All in all, the possibilities are endless for Motorola’s Mods, as they can add more and more features to phones in the Moto Z series.
