Rumors had previously suggested otherwise

Motorola unveiled the Moto Z smartphones during the Tech World event held recently in San Francisco. It now appears that they are still working on the Moto X line as well and that the Moto Z wasn’t intended to replace the X series.

Motorola has stated that the “Moto X is alive and well,” according to AndroidPolice. The company has mentioned that the Moto X and Moto Z lines have great qualities, but they provide quite different experiences to consumers.

Motorola officials have also stated that the Moto Z and MotoMods were mainly released for “tech-hungry consumers,” as they come with some advanced specs and added functionality with the MotoMods.

Moto Z is essentially the company’s most prized range, with Moto Z Force clearly being their flagship at the moment, while the main advantage behind the Moto X line is that it offers consumers good specs at an affordable price. The Moto X line surely won’t receive the same amount of attention and promotional power as the Moto Z, which is quite understandable.

Moto X was the previous flagship series at Motorola

It’s also unclear if Motorola will be pushing the Moto X line in the same markets as the Moto Z, but that wouldn’t make sense anyway, since the former is lesser to the latter.

Nevertheless, the statement has confirmed that the company will continue to work on its Moto X line, but it’s not certain if any smartphone in the series will be launched this year. Moto X has been the flagship series at Motorola, but following the acquisition by Lenovo, it appears that the flagship line has become the Moto Z.

Prices for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force haven’t been disclosed, but the smartphones will be available through Verizon this summer, with the Droid branding on the back.
