Motorola released 2nd-generation Moto E quite a while ago, in 2015. Following the takeover from Lenovo, Motorola executives stated that the Moto E series would live on, but there was no information as to when a new smartphone would see the light of day. However, it seems that 3rd-gen Moto E has been announced today, and Moto G4 Play will be arriving to the UK this fall.

Moto E devices don't offer impressive specs, but they still are decent and manage to do their job for the low price of just £99, according to Pocket Lint. Specifically, 3rd-gen Moto 3 comes with a 5-inch HD display, which is larger than the 4.5-inch screen on the 2nd-gen Moto E.

In addition, it packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and a rear camera of 8MP. The smartphone draws power from a 2,800mAh battery and a microSD card slot for adding more memory. Moreover, the handset sports a water-repellent body and a 5MP selfie snapper on the front. Internal storage is set to reach just 16GB, and the device should come with 2GB of RAM.

The smartphone will be available in the UK in early September

In addition, 3rd-gen Moto E will be available in the UK from Tesco, Amazon, Argos, and O2 in early September, and it is expected to run Android Marshmallow 6.0, unlike Android Lollipop 5.0 on the previous model.

It’s worth mentioning that it comes with some improvements over the second generation, which had a smaller screen of 4.5 inches and featured Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating. It was available in two variants, one with 3G connectivity and another with LTE. The 3G model had a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, an Adreno 302 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory.

Moto G4 Play will be made available in the UK in mid-August for the price of £129. It is set to come with Snapdragon 410, 2GB of RAM, a 2,800mAh battery, and 16GB of internal storage. It has an 8MP rear camera as well as a 5MP unit on the front.
