Earlier this month we told you that the Chilean carrier Entel had inadvertently revealed the existence of the Motorola Moto X Sport and the new Moto G, which will supposedly launch sometime in August.

Although we are still roughly a month away from the purported launch date, the specs of the Motorola Moto X Sport already surfaced online. And this week, we even get to look at an image showing us the back of the upcoming smartphone.

The picture emerged in a Google+ post and revealed that the Motorola Moto X Sport would be a rugged device coming with a back made of a sturdy rubber-like material.

According to the person who leaked this information, Motorola will bestow major upgrades to the camera and battery of the Moto X Sport. Also, we can’t help but notice a resemblance in the metal frame between this photo and another image of the third-gen Motorola Moto X, which popped up online last month.

What the Moto X Sport is all about

Anyway, if you have missed our earlier coverage on the Moto X Sport, we’re going to take a moment here and walk you through them once again.

If we’re to listen to word on the street, the phone should arrive with a 5.2-inch display, possibly with full HD (1080p) resolution. Also, the device will be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, but the exact model has not been revealed yet.

We also expect the Motorola Moto X Sport to take advantage of a 16MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, autofocus and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front.

Since the Motorola Moto X Sport is supposed to be a rugged version of the third-generation Moto X, we should see the phone make a debut into the wild with an IP67 certification for dust and water, something which will help the handset survive in harsh conditions.

Samsung played the same card with the Galaxy S6 and rolled out a rugged counterpart for the device in the form of the Galaxy S6 Active.

Compared to the flagship, the rugged model arrived with a larger battery, which upset some of those who have purchased the Galaxy S6.

As it seems, the Motorola Moto X Sport will also have a better battery. Anyone interested?
