Great news for Motorola fans in the United States, as at least one of the new Moto smartphones recently announced by the company will arrive in their country very soon.

When Motorola unveiled the Moto X Play, the company confirmed the smartphone would not be launched in the United States.

According to a new report coming from Hong Kong, Motorola plans to launch the Moto X Play at Verizon Wireless. However, the smartphone will be released under a different name: Droid Maxx 2.

The naming scheme doesn't come as a surprise since the handset packs a large 3,630 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Along with the information regarding the upcoming release of the Moto X Play in the United States, the same Hong Kong-based leaker claims Motorola will also bring the Droid Turbo 2 at Verizon.

The smartphone should be available for purchase at Big Red by the end of this year, though the exact release date has yet to be confirmed. The Droid Turbo 2 might be a rebranded Moto X Style for Verizon Wireless.

Other carriers might offer the smartphone next year, too

This is not the first time we hear about these two Droid smartphones. Earlier this month, @evleaks said he heard that both Moto X Play and Moto X Style would arrive in the United States at Verizon Wireless, as Droid Maxx 2 and Droid Turbo 2.

Since Verizon has a long track of delayed releases, it remains to be seen when exactly these two Droid family devices will be launched in the United States.

There's no telling whether or not Motorola will bring the Moto X Play and Moto X Style at other US-based carriers, but there's a high chance AT&T will offer at least one of them after Verizon's exclusivity period expires.
