Motorola seems to be working on two smartphones in the Moto M series, as one of them has just passed through TENAA. Another variant of Moto M has shown up on GFXBench, and some of its specs have been revealed.

The GFXBench listing has been spotted by Techdroider, and the phone has the model number XT1663. The specs seem to indicate that the device will be a compact version of a 2016 Moto, but the report suggests that it will keep the design of 2014 Moto handsets, possibly Moto G4 Play.

Motorola Moto M seems to sport a 4.6-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and run an octa-core 1.9GHz CPU with MediaTek MT6750 and Mali-T860 graphics processing unit. RAM capacity would reach 3GB while internal storage is said to be 32GB.

It might come with a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP camera on the front. The smartphone could run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The report also mentions that it will have a fingerprint sensor on the back, embedded in a button. It seems that the device could be announced later this year, but that remains to be seen.

Motorola could unveil two Moto M smartphones

Moreover, a variant of the Moto M seems to have passed through TENAA recently, according to Techdroider, but this model comes with a 5.5-inch FHD display and a 3,000mAh battery.

The variant featured the codename XT1662, which means that it could be a Plus variant of the XT1663. In addition, the smartphones could come with full metal bodies, and they will lack a physical home button on the front.

It seems that past trends in the smartphone market have pushed manufacturers to create phones with increasingly larger displays while the 4.6-inch Moto M is aimed at those consumers who wish to get a phone that would easily fit in their pockets and not compromise on performance.
