New ad mocks Samsung’s ad targeted at Apple

Samsung’s recent ad making fun of a whole decade of iPhones has been pretty successful, with nearly 23 million views on YouTube, but in addition to mocking Apple, it appears that it also serves as marketing material for other companies.

Motorola, for example, rolled out an ad for the Z2 Play that’s based on the same idea as Samsung’s own video, showcasing an owner of a phone from a different brand (in this case Samsung) discovering that a model developed by another company, namely Motorola, is much more powerful.

The company suggests the Insta-Share Projector add-on that’s available for the Motorola Z2 Play is much better than any high-quality display or no-bezel and curved phone manufactured even by Samsung.

Motorola’s attempt could easily backfire

Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the video itself is actually entirely accurate, as while the projecting feature itself is a neat feature, the Z2 Play barely compared with the Samsung Galaxy S8. Motorola’s phone is powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 626 processor, while Samsung’s flagship comes with the Snapdragon 835 high-end chip.

Motorola’s attempt to mock Samsung can easily backfire, as some users think that the company is only trying to make the headlines by challenging Samsung and Apple. Without a doubt, this is can be a very effective method to gain some attention from the media, but on the other hand, it also attracts criticism from customers who have already purchased Motorola phones and were disappointed.

There are several comments on the YouTube page that blast the company for its “terrible hardware,” with some saying they had “to replace the phone 6 times” just because it wasn’t working correctly.

In the end, however, this video is certainly fun to watch, and we can only hope that Apple or Samsung would response with their own video. Because this is clearly entertaining for fanboys.
