The new update brings about some nasty side-effects

After a long wait, Motorola's DROID Turbo was finally treated with the Android 5.1 Lollipop update not so long ago. This proved particularly frustrating for the owners of this Motorola flagship who were left behind waiting.

Although Motorola has been one of the manufacturers known to be offering major OS updates quite fast, its acquisition by Lenovo might have led to some delays to the delivery of promised updates for smartphone owners. But now the update is finally live. Nevertheless, no good thing remains untainted.

The DROID Turbo has been stuck on Android 4.4 KitKat for quite some time, so naturally owners were thrilled to install the Lollipop update which brought about tons of new features. But all this came at a major tradeoff.

Motorola DROID Turbo suffers after the Android 5.1 Lollipop update

Users on the xda-developers forum have been complaining of poor battery and turbo charging performance after the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. Here’s what some of them are saying.

“My battery has been a lot worse too. Usually go a day and half without charging now I have to take my charger to work with me.”

“My battery life has been awful since the update. If i unplug at 8 am with 100% I have been at 40-35% at 2 pm with only 1.5-2 hours on screen time.”

“My battery life has been worse also, especially while the screen is not on. I went from around 90% to 70% overnight while sleeping for about 6 hrs. On kk I would have only lost 2-3%.”

Furthermore, select users have been pointing out that slow data speeds have also been plaguing some DROID Turbo units since the update.

However, not everyone seems to be affected by these issues. Some users have said that their speeds have improved overall.

For those affected, there’s nothing much to do now than wait and hope Motorola acknowledges the problem and issues a fix in the upcoming months.

The Motorola Droid Turbo is an impressive slob that arrives with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and 565ppi. There’s a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz powering the handset with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage onboard.
