The smartphone is likely to ship with Android Lollipop

At least two Motorola smartphones are rumored to arrive this year at Verizon, but neither made its debut at the Big Red yet.

We're talking about DROID Turbo 2 and DROID Maxx 2, which were spotted in various official documents in the last couple of months.

In case you didn't know, the former is also known as Motorola Kinzie, the smartphone that leaked several months ago along with some of its specs in tow.

The information has been confirmed once again by the folks over at Droid-Life, though it's still unclear when exactly the smartphone will be launched by Verizon.

Let's not forget that the original DROID Turbo was launched in the United States in late October, which is why there's a high chance the sequel will be made available around the same time this year.

For those unaware, the DROID Turbo 2 is rumored to boast a hyper-vibrant 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

No Marshmallow at launch for the DROID Turbo 2

On the inside, the smartphone is said to come with a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

There's no mention of storage, but DROID Turbo 2 should pack at least 32GB of storage and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

On the back, the DROID Turbo 2 will feature a 20-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording, while in the front there should be a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Sadly, Motorola DROID Turbo 2 is likely to ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, instead of the much newer Android 6.0 Marshmallow that has just been released by Google.

As mentioned earlier, we expect Verizon to launch the DROID Turbo 2 sometime later this month, but only if the Big Red doesn't plan to cancel it altogether.
