Although Motorola announced it would not bring the Moto X Play to the United States, it appears that the handset will eventually arrive in the country this year, but under a different name.

Dubbed Motorola DROID Maxx 2, the smartphone will be exclusively available in the US at Verizon Wireless. It will probably cost the same as the international version, but an exact release date has yet to be confirmed.

The DROID Maxx 2 won't be the only Motorola smartphone to be launched by Verizon this year. Fans probably heard about a month ago that another Motorola handset, the DROID Turbo 2 should make it to the United States this year.

Famous leaker @upleaks has just published the first press render of the DROID Turbo 2, which seems to be internally known as Motorola Bounce.

According to the cited source, the so-called Motorola Bounce should be available for purchase at Verizon Wireless sometime in December. No word on exact release date and pricing options yet, but we do have some details on specs.

A large battery and a Quad HD are its strongest points

For example, the DROID Turbo 2 should pack an even larger battery than the DROID Maxx 2. The leaker claims the smartphone should be powered by a 3,760 mAh battery, whereas the DROID Maxx 2 has a slightly smaller 3,630 mAh battery inside.

On the inside, the DROID Turbo 2 is said to be equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM.

The smartphone will be available in two versions based on storage amount: 32GB and 64GB. Obviously, they will be priced differently, but we will know more in the coming months.

On the back, there will be a 21-megapixel camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there will be a 5-megapixel secondary camera.

Last but not least, the DROID Turbo 2 should sport a large 5.43-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and features “shatterproof” coating.
