Motorola announced earlier this month that it woud offer Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades to no less than 11 smartphones.

However, the US-based handset maker also stated that the list of devices was subject to change and more devices might be added in the future.

For the time being, the following Motorola handsets have been confirmed to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the coming months:

2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen), 2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen), 2015 Moto X Play, 2015 Moto G (3rd gen), 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen), 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia (2nd gen), 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd gen), DROID Turbo, 2014 Moto MAXX, 2014 Moto Turbo, and Nexus 6.

As many Motorola fans in the US might have noticed, the Verizon and AT&T version of Moto X (2nd Gen) do not appear on the list above, which means the US-based company has no plans to offer the upgrade to these device just yet.

Well, it looks like there's a chance that Motorola could provide Verizon and AT&T customers who own the Moto X (2nd Gen) with the option to upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

We're still waiting for official word from Motorola

The folks over at Droid-Life have just uncovered Wi-Fi certifications for both versions of Motorola Moto X (2nd Gen).

These certifications mention Android 6.0 Marshmallow in their listings, so we believe these smartphones will eventually receive the highly anticipated update.

Unfortunately, these Wi-Fi certifications are dated September 30, and the official list of smartphones confirmed for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update was published in early October.

This means that, while Motorola probably intended to offer the upgrade to Moto X (2nd Gen) at AT&T and Verizon, something happened that made the company pull these devices from the initial list.

We'll most likely find out more in the coming months, as Motorola plans to upgrade most of the devices on the list by the end of the year.
