HTC was one of the first handset makers to offer customers information about Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades, but Motorola isn't too far behind.

The US-based company has just announced it will release Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades for no less than 11 smartphones. According to Motorola, at the moment, the company has plans to upgrade the following Motorola devices:

2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen), 2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen), 2015 Moto X Play, 2015 Moto G (3rd gen), 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen), 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia (2nd gen), 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd gen), DROID Turbo, 2014 Moto MAXX, 2014 Moto Turbo, and Nexus 6.

Those who own any of the devices mentioned above will have to wait for additional news about the timing because Motorola states it will “work fast but won't push the upgrades out” until they are absolutely certain they are ready and without any issues.

More devices could be added to the list

Motorola's VP and Software Product Manager Bjorn Kilburn promised more news on timing in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more on this one.

It's also worth mentioning that all upgrades are subject to carrier support and approval, and the phone being able to support the upgrade. Also, Motorola has stated that China upgrade is still under evaluation.

There's one last thing you should know, and that's the fact that the list of upgradable Motorola smartphones may be modified at any moment.

The company has confirmed things can change, so any device mentioned earlier can be removed, but any other Motorola smartphone that doesn't appear yet could be added later on.

Concerning the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade, Motorola has some changes of its own that will include. Also, the company has announced it will remove Moto Assist as part of the upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
