The Lenovo - Motorola soap opera continues with a new episode that now includes the US-based company's own version of its upcoming lineup of Android smartphones.

Our readers might recall that Lenovo's Chen Xudong stated earlier this week that all Moto smartphones launched in 2016 would include fingerprint sensors and 5-inch displays and higher.

The official's statement confused a large part of the press, as many websites reported that Lenovo might retire some of the most popular Motorola lineups: Moto E and Moto G.

Instead, Lenovo would launch its own Vibe-branded affordable smartphones while Motorola would focus on the high-end tier.

One day later, Lenovo clarified Xudong's statements and confirmed that it had no intention of cutting out the Moto E and Moto G series of smartphones.

Based on these declarations, we assumed that future Moto E and Moto G smartphones might include fingerprint sensors and 5-inch or higher displays, even though they are aimed at the budget-friendly market.

Moto E and Moto G phones could be customized for the Chinese market

We hate to disappoint you, but it looks like there is little chance that Moto E and Moto G will come with these features this year.

According to a new statement provided by Motorola to Phandroid, Xudong's comments were referring to the Chinese market and the smartphones that would be launched in this country.

“Xudong was referring to products specific to the China market. We’ll share more information about our 2016 products at a later time,” reads Motorola's statement.

Even though things seem to have been clarified now, we wouldn't be surprised if Lenovo comes forward with yet another statement on Motorola's lineup of smartphones for 2016.

The good news is both Motorola and Lenovo agree that Moto E and Moto G smartphones will continue to arrive on the market. Stay tuned for more info on Motorola's future products.
