The Moto E (2nd Gen) will not receive the update in the US

Motorola has just added four new smartphones to Android 6.0 Marshmallow roadmap, which were still under scrutiny by the US-based company: Moto X Force, DROID MAXX 2, DROID Turbo 2 and Moto E (2nd Generation).

The handset maker announced back in October the first batch of Motorola smartphones that will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates, but many fans were disappointed that two of the company's popular devices, Moto X (2nd Gen) and Moto E (2nd Gen) did not make it to the list.

Fast forward two months and Motorola has added the four smartphones we mentioned earlier to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow roadmap.

But not all Motorola fans will be pleased to know the company finally decided to offer the highly anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade to Moto E (2nd Gen) since the update will not be available in the United States and China.

Moto X (2nd Gen) has been skipped once again in the US

According to Motorola, the Moto X (2nd Gen) available at AT&T and Verizon, as well as Moto E (2nd Gen) in the US and China, will not be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

However, the rest of the world, meaning Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia, will get the Marshmallow update for Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen).

The Moto X Force to be released worldwide next month should also receive the upgrade in 2016, along with the other two smartphones that are exclusive to Verizon Wireless: DROID MAXX 2 and DROID Turbo 2.

We still don't know when these updates are coming, but we suspect Motorola will start with some soak tests just like every other major upgrade in the past.

As always, there's a chance that Motorola may revise the list of devices scheduled for Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades with new smartphones, but that's highly unlikely.
