Last month, Motorola unveiled the Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones with modular accessories, called MotoMods. However, previous leaks had pointed to the fact that the company had another handset up its sleeve, namely the Moto Z Play.

The device has been leaking in images for some time now, and the latest batch of pictures has surfaced just recently. Moto Z Play has been spotted on HelloMotoHK account, and the photos depict its design, which is quite similar to that of the Moto Z and Moto Z Force.

The images don't reveal any specs for the upcoming smartphone, but a while ago, word was that the device would be cheaper and would thus not be as powerful as the Moto Z Force.

The specs of the upcoming Moto Z Play (code name Vector) previously leaked online and indicated that the handset would sport a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with an Adreno 506 graphics processing unit.

Moto Z Play should come with a fingerprint sensor and a 3,500mAh battery

The phone is said to be available in two variants, one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage while the other could provide 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Moto Z Play might pack a fingerprint sensor, together with a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, and OIS.

It is believed to draw power from a 3,500mAh battery and run Android Marshmallow 6.0. What's also worth noting is that it could come with USB Type-C port, just like on the Moto Z and Moto Z Force.

Moto Z Play will indeed have a bigger battery than the Moto Z, which features a 2,600mAh one, and should last up to 30 hours, as Lenovo has stated. Since the Moto Z Play is part of the Moto Z series, it should be compatible with MotoMods. Motorola has released a number of MotoMods modular accessories, which help expand battery life and add functionality to smartphones in the line.
