Motorola unveiled the Moto Z and Moto Z Force during Tech World in June this year, and fans were expecting to see the Moto Z Play also revealed during the event. It seems that the company decided to focus just on the first two devices and plan an unveiling for the Moto Z Play later this year.

Specs and images of the Moto Z Play have leaked for some time now, and it seems that a new batch has made its way to the Internet, this time portraying the white color variant of the phone. The pictures have been spotted by Steve Hemmerstoffer, and one of them leaked on Instagram.

The front of the handset is very similar to the Moto Z, but the back comes with some differences. The Moto Z Play seems to sport a glass back compared to the metal panel found on the Moto Z. In addition, the image showing the black Moto Z Play reveals that the handset has a circular pattern in the glass panel, around the camera module. The pattern isn't easy to spot on the white model.

The Moto Z Play will be fully compatible with Moto Mods

Aside from this, photos leaked a while ago showed that the smartphone would come with a 3.5mm headphone jack and would be similar to devices in the Moto Z line when it comes to other design elements. The Moto Z Play will also be fully compatible with the Moto Mods, available for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force.

In addition to the Moto Mods released together with the two smartphones, Motorola is also planning to introduce new modular accessories, possibly during the unveiling of the Moto Z Play. Word is that the smartphone will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and 3GB of RAM.

In addition, battery capacity could reach 3,500mAh, with the device expected to come with USB Type-C port, alongside a fingerprint scanner and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
