The Moto Z is one of those smartphones that didn't receive the attention it deserved. The smartphone recently made its debut in Europe after its initial release in the United States via major carrier Verizon.

Aside from its pretty powerful hardware configuration, the smartphone follows the modular design that LG G5 failed to make popular among Android fans. However, Motorola's Moto Z looks and feels more stylish than most other flagships available on the market.

Also, the Moto Mods that can be added to the phone to improve its battery, camera or audio features seem to be selling very well, since Motorola announced that it would continue to launch new Mods throughout the 2017.

Now, if you like the Moto Z, which packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor inside, then you will be pleased to know Motorola could launch an improved version of its flagship.

An unannounced Moto Z has been recently spotted in benchmarks, but this time featuring a more powerful chipset. What makes it confusing, though, is the fact that it's been listed with the same model number as the original Moto Z, Motorola XT1650.

The listing mentions the phone is powered by an octa-core MSM8998 processor clocked at 1.9GHz, and as some of you probably know, that's Snapdragon 835's model number.

Besides the Snapdragon 835 processor, we've also learned that this new Moto Z smartphone packs 4GB of RAM and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system right out of the box.

We believe that this is just a prototype unit that packs Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 835 processor in a Moto Z chassis, which would explain the model number.

It would make perfect sense for Motorola to include Qualcomm's powerful chipset inside its upcoming flagship smartphone, so there's no surprise there.

It remains to be seen whether or not the device will be introduced at Mobile World Congress in later February, or Lenovo will go for a dedicated event.
