14 DAY TRIAL // Motorola is expected to announce the new Moto G5 Plus in March this year and little information has been known about the upcoming device until recently. It appears that specs and live images of the Moto G5 Plus have leaked out.
Interestingly enough, an OLX user from Romania sold a Moto G5 Plus phone for the price of $387, as spotted on Reddit. OLX Romania is one of the biggest online marketplaces in the country, very similar to US’s Craigslist. The seller revealed a list of specs and live images of the phone carrying the model number XT1685.
The post has been taken down in the meantime, meaning that the phone was sold. However, the posted price won’t be the official price for the phone. An interesting piece of information is the “Motorola confidential property, not for sale” mark on the phone, indicating that this unit could be a prototype intended for testing purposes.
It could very well be a beta, which means that Motorola could make changes to the model before the global rollout. This seems likely, considering that the phone appears to have a microUSB and most manufacturers go with USB Type-C nowadays.
Moto G5 Plus appears to run Android 7.0 Nougat
The list of specs includes a 5.5-inch 1080p display and an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor. Moreover, the phone appears to have a fingerprint scanner, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and a 3,080mAh battery. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat and has a 13MP camera on the back, with a 5MP selfie camera in the front.
The leaked images reveal a design very similar to another phone that Motorola is working on, the Moto X, which will be announced later this year. Perhaps Motorola will use roughly the same design on the two phones, but incorporate high-end specs on the Moto X, seeing how it’s rumored to come with a dual-lens camera setup on the back. The Moto G5 Plus is said to be announced this March, while the Moto X (2017) could be showcased during MWC in February.
