Motorola is known to be working on a number of upcoming smartphones, including Moto E4 and E3 Plus, as well as the successor to last year’s flagship Moto Z. But a new report reveals that the Moto C and Moto C Plus are also on the way.

Moto C and Moto C Plus will be Motorola’s cheapest smartphones to date, although their actual price is unknown at this point. With the new smartphones, Motorola aims at targeting first-time smartphone users, which means that the devices surely won’t include the latest specs or components.

The difference between Moto C and Moto C Plus won’t be in terms of display size, but rather internal components inside the new devices. Both smartphones will have the same display size of 5 inches, but pixel resolution will differ. Moto C will have an FWVGA resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, while the C Plus will feature HD resolution on its screen, which means 1280 x 720 pixels.

Other differences between the two phones are found in terms of internal components. Moto C Plus will be a 4G LTE device, while the standard Moto C offers 3G and 4G configurations. Moving on to processor architecture, Moto C will feature a MediaTek SoC with a 32-bit octa-core CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, while the chipset inside Moto C Plus is a 64-bit CPU clocked at the same speed. The 4G variant of Moto C will have a 64-bit configuration clocked at 1.1GHz.

RAM capacity could reach 2GB on the Moto C Plus

The standard Moto C will come with 1GB of RAM, while the memory on the Moto C Plus will vary between 1GB and 2GB depending on the region. C Plus will offer 16GB of internal memory, while the Moto C will feature 8GB or 16GB of storage, depending on the region. All variants will offer the option to expand memory using a microSD card.

Another difference between the two smartphones will regard the battery capacity, as the Moto C will draw power from a 2,350mAh battery, while the C Plus will feature a 4,000mAh battery to keep the device’s lights on.

In terms of rear camera capacity, the Moto C will snap pictures using a 5MP camera with flash, while the 2MP selfie camera in the front also has flash. The Moto C Plus has a rear camera with 8MP, while both variants will ship in black, white, gold and red options.
