Warner Bros. confirmed earlier today that Mortal Kombat 11 is on track to become the highest-selling game in the series with more than 12 million units sold worldwide. The impressive number pushes the Mortal Kombat franchise over 73 million console games sold to date.

The highly-acclaimed series has already spawned three theatrical films, animated movies, and multiple television series. Not to mention that Mortal Kombat Mobile is a huge success with more than 138 million installs on Android and iOS devices, as well as millions of people actively playing the game every day across console and mobile platforms.

When Mortal Kombat launched nearly 30 years ago, I never dreamed it would grow into the franchise it is today with more than 73 million games sold. We have some of the most passionate fans in the world and we appreciate the support they have shown us over the years,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios and Co-Creator of Mortal Kombat.

The original Mortal Kombat game launched back in 1992, whereas the latest entry in the series, Mortal Kombat 11 made its debut on PC and console in April 2019. The latter has become the fastest-selling title in the franchise history.

The most recent addition to the franchise, Mortal Kombat Ultimate, launched back in November 202 and includes an expanded version of the multi-awarded Mortal Kombat 11, which received the Fighting Game of the Year award at the 23rd and 24th D.I.C.E. Awards by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.

Those who haven't yet played the newest game in the series can pick up Mortal Kombat 11 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and PC. Also, Mortal Kombat Ultimate is available on the same platforms for those who want to get the full experience.
