Brace yourselves, the end of days is once again upon us

We had the Mayan apocalypse in December 2012 and then the Viking apocalypse in 2014, not to mention the many other end of days dramas that played out in between but that failed to grab headlines.

This September, it's time we hide in our bunkers and brace ourselves for the Mormon apocalypse. A somewhat different turn of events than what the Mayan or the Viking doomsday promised us, but the finality is pretty much the same: we're all going to die.

So, yes, if you have some gas or phone bills lying around your house, perhaps you shouldn't hurry to be the responsible adult and pay them just yet. If you wait a few more days for the world to end, you'll get to keep the money.

Some people really think the apocalypse is coming

News from Utah says that, over these past few weeks, local Mormons have made it a habit to visit stores and shops, and buy everything in sight that might come in handy when the apocalypse happens.

Food, blankets, tents and flashlights are at the top of the list, with people spending a truckload of money to stock up on these precious commodities. Apparently, some are even getting ready to leave their homes should need be.

American Fork's Thrive Life, a store marketing freeze-dried food, says sales have increased about 500% over these past couple of months, with people rushing in to buy as much food as they can carry.

“There is a sense of urgency, like something is up. A lot of people are mentioning things about September, like a financial collapse,” customer service representative Ricardo Aranda said in an interview, as cited by IBT.

So, how is this latest apocalypse going to play out?

By the looks of it, the entire conundrum was started by a Mormon mother of three by the name of Julie Rowe and two books that she wrote and published after a near-death experience, i.e. “A Greater Tomorrow: My Journey Beyond the Veil” and “The Time Is Now.”

Julie Rowe and her supporters think the Jewish High Holy Days that began at sundown on September 13 and that will last for about a week and half will be followed by a sudden financial collapse for which the US and its wicked ways will bear all the blame.

Then there's the supermoon and the supermoon lunar eclipse that will happen on the night of 27 to 28 September, and before we regular folks even get a chance to realize what's happening, the world as we know it will come to an end before our very eyes.

Scientists over at NASA reassure the supermoon and the supermoon lunar eclipse that will happen later this month are not a sign that the apocalypse is nigh. Mind you, not even all Mormons are going along with these rumors.
