Even though stats put Android in the leading spot in the majority of large markets across the world, including in the United States, it turns out that Americans actually love Apple products.

So much that more than 6 in 10 residents of the United States own at least one Apple product, according to a recent survey conducted by CNBC.

The study has found that while 64 percent of the Americans have at least one Apple device, including here iPod, iPhone, iPad, Macs, or Apple TVs, the average US households owns 2.6 Apple products, up from 1.6 in 2012 when the first study was conducted.

It goes without saying that ownership increases as the net income of each household grows, so the only groups where the rate drops below 50 percent is in the case of families with incomes under $30,000, retirees, and women over age 50. These are the most likely groups to look for more affordable phones powered by Android and not for iPhones that are priced premium.

Wealthy people love Apple

On the other hand, 87 percent of the Americans that make more than $100,000 every year own at least one Apple product, while the household ownership rate increases to no less than 4.7 products in the case of the wealthiest groups. The stats show that Americans in the west own 3.7 Apple products, up from 2.2 products in the south.

But in terms of smartphones, this doesn’t necessarily translate to record market share for Apple. Data provided by Kantar for the United States indicate that Android reached a sales share of 64.1 percent in the three-month period ending July 2017, while Apple is only the runner-up with 34.1 percent.

These figures could increase for the next batch of stats given that Apple took the wraps off the iPhone 8 series and is getting ready to introduce the iPhone X, but just like older models, the premium price is one decisive factor for each purchase.
