Apple’s iPhone has always been considered a great gift for both teens and adults, but at the same time, it’s also one increasingly more expensive present given the growing prices for the new models.

But as it turns out, it’s not the price that makes more people prefer a Samsung Galaxy S8 over an iPhone X for Christmas this year, but the lack of popular features like a headphone jack and a fingerprint scanner.

A survey conducted by US market research firm Propeller Insights reveals that no less than 38 percent of the respondents in the United States want a Galaxy S8 for Christmas. Only 20 percent of the people said they hope they’ll receive an iPhone X, according to reports.

This means that more people want an iPhone 8 than an iPhone X, as 22 percent of the adults that answered this question indicated the more subtly-revised 2017 iPhone model.

Teenagers still loving Apple

Apple, however, is still a super-appealing brand for teenagers. 35 percent of the survey respondents falling into this category claimed they want an iPhone X this Christmas, and as many of them chose the iPhone 8, so no less than 70 percent of the teenagers are fully committed to Apple. 28 percent of them went for the Samsung Galaxy S8.

The survey included 1034 adults and 507 teenagers and was conducted at the request of US e-commerce firm Ebates.

Apple is working at full speed to make more iPhone X inventory available before Christmas, as initial supply was reportedly substantially affected by production issues. Approximately three million iPhone X units were available when Apple kicked off the pre-order program, and this caused waiting times to be increased to up to six weeks after the initial stock was sold out.

Analysts expect enough stock to be ready in early 2018, following Apple and its suppliers addressing all production challenges by year-end.
