Apple’s iPhone becoming more successful among Android users

Apple had clearly benefited from the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 disaster, when a substantial number of Android users switched to iPhone, but it turns out that this transition continues and the percentage of customers switching sides is on the rise.

A research conducted by the Consumer Intelligence Research Partners and involving 500 respondents reveals that 20 percent of the iPhone buyers the last quarter come from Android, up from 17 percent the previous quarter.

This means that the iPhone is considered a worthy device by more and more Android users, and this can only be good news for Apple, especially ahead of the debut of the iPhone 8, which would bring a substantial number of improvements.

More users upgrading from older iPhones

As far as the iPhone lineup itself is concerned, 34 percent of the buyers come from older devices like the iPhone 5s, 5c, or the iPhone 4. Again, this is super-good news as Apple has struggled lately to upgrade customers to its latest devices, and the same thing is expected to happen when the iPhone 8 launches this fall.

Analysts are already expecting the iPhone 8 to be the best-selling iPhone model ever launched, not necessarily because of new buyers, but mostly because the existing Apple userbase is projected to finally upgrade to the new model, giving up on older devices.

And there’s more good news for Apple. iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 7 Plus sales increased to 42 percent, up from 32 percent the previous year, showing that Cupertino’s strategy of offering exclusive features on the bigger models, like the dual-camera system, is paying off.

The iPhone 7 is obviously selling like hot cakes, with 81 percent of the new devices that were purchased during the quarter being either the smaller 4.7-inch model or the bigger 5.5-inch configuration that features the aforementioned dual-camera system.
